Job description

Job Title: Mental Health Teaching Assistant

Location: Winton

Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

Start Date: Immediate

Contract Type: Full Time / Permanent

GSL Education are looking for a caring and motivated Mental Health Teaching Assistant (TA) to support students in a wonderful school in Winton. This is your chance to make a real difference by helping children manage their emotions, stay focused, and feel confident in school.

Your Role Will Include:

  • Supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs during lessons and breaks
  • Helping children manage their behaviour, feelings, and friendships in positive ways
  • Working closely with teachers and other staff to make sure students feel safe and supported.
  • Encouraging a calm and welcoming classroom environment
  • Keeping track of how students are doing and sharing updates with the team
  • Being a trusted adult that students can talk to and rely on

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

  • A strong interest in supporting children with mental health or emotional needs.
  • Experience working with young people (in school, youth work, care, or similar).
  • A calm, patient, and understanding nature.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A CV covering the past 10 years (with any gaps clearly explained).
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
