Job description

Mental Health Teaching Assistant

This amazing specialist school in Headington is looking for a Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join their team starting ASAP.

This is an important role where you will be responsible for facilitating and providing tailored emotional and mental health support to students, helping them navigate their feelings, build resilience, and develop coping strategies. As a Mental Health Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to create a supportive and safe environment for our students.

The students in this setting have all been identified as struggling with social, emotional, and mental health needs (SEMH). They are between the ages of 4 and 11 and have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences. These experiences have led them to have mental health struggles, which contribute to nervous system dysregulation. This lovely school is looking for people to come in and support their students in processing their thoughts and feelings and regulating their emotions.

Your role will involve fostering positive relationships with students, promoting trust and emotional safety, and collaborating with parents and caregivers to offer guidance and support.

This mental health school is based in Headington and offers their students the best help they can, but they are looking to add someone to their team who can facilitate a high level of care and compassion for their students.
