Job summary

Academics is seeking a Mental Health Support Worker for a Secondary SEN School in Newbury. This role suits graduates aiming for psychology/education careers and involves assisting students with SEMH needs.

Responsibilities include 1:1 and small group support, building relationships, and helping students develop confidence, resilience, and coping strategies. Start ASAP, full-time, £93-£110 per day, 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday–Friday.

Qualifications

• Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
• Confident communicating with students who may experience emotional or mental health difficulties.
• Calm and supportive when responding to challenging situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support to students experiencing a range of emotional and mental health needs.
• Build positive, trusting relationships with students and provide consistent emotional and pastoral support.
• Help students develop confidence, resilience, self-esteem, self-regulation, and independence.
• Support students in managing difficult emotions, anxiety, stress, and challenging behaviours using appropriate strategies.
• Encourage positive coping mechanisms and help students develop healthy ways of managing their emotions.
