Job summary

Cygnet Hospital Taunton is seeking compassionate Support Workers to join a dedicated team in a specialist mental health hospital setting in Taunton. The role involves assisting adults with mental health needs, promoting independence and confidence within a safe, therapeutic environment.

You will work 38.5 hours per week across day, night and weekend shifts, with salary progression after 3 and 18 months. Local candidates with suitable care experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• Experience in health and social care, mental health support, or related fields.
• Ability to provide person-centred support in a structured environment.
• Willingness to work shifts including days, nights, weekends.
• Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care and support to service users, patients and residents.
• Offer emotional and practical support to help individuals feel safe, respected and understood.
• Support people with daily routines, independence and wellbeing.
• Learn about each individual’s specific needs and provide person-centred support.
• Assist with medical, welfare and physical health needs, reporting concerns.
• Safeguard vulnerable adults and maintain professional boundaries.
• Maintain a safe, clean and supportive environment.
• Work closely with colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team.
