Overview

Are you an experienced Mental Health Support Worker or looking to start your NHS career? We are seeking compassionate individuals to join our supportive and friendly team at St Brelades, Alderney Hospital, Poole. St Brelades is a male dementia ward which caters for up to 17 mental health patients. You will provide assessment and treatment for older individuals with dementia and behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.

Responsibilities
  • Provide assessment and treatment for older individuals with dementia and behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia.
  • Demonstrate passion, empathy, strong communication and excellent teamwork as a core part of the role.
  • Fulfil the duties of the post in a full-time capacity, with flexibility for part-time applications (minimum 22.5 hours).
  • Engage in shift patterns as required: Early (07:00–15:00), Late (13:00–21:00), Long Day (07:00–21:00), Nights (20:30–07:30, enhanced pay).
  • Complete an enhanced DBS check (Trust will cover the cost) and undertake the Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course (Mondays to Fridays, 08:00–16:00) as a condition of employment.
  • Engage with induction, ongoing support from the team, and opportunities for career development.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK; note that sponsorship for skilled worker status is not available for this position.
  • Willingness to complete required training and assessments as part of the role.
