£24,570 - £25,662 (Dependent on Experience) (Pro rata for part-time hours)

Main duties of the job
Essential requirements of a Healthcare Support Worker
  • Flexibility - Your role will involve working shifts including weekends and Bank Holidays.
  • Must be able to attend training throughout employment, which will be held on weekdays.
  • Good written skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately.
  • Basic IT skills (Your role will involve some computer work, completing forms, using an online care system, and writing emails).
  • Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others.
  • An ability to maintain a professional working boundary.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations.
Desirable Criteria of a Healthcare Support Worker
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care.
  • Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs.

Job responsibilities

At Care in Mind, our homes are vibrant environments where young people feel safe, and staff enjoy their work. Your role involves supporting young people to promote independence through assistance with education, household tasks, and life skills. You will also update online care records, administer medication, and ensure the home remains tidy and homely.

In our Bolton home, you will work with young people with various mental health diagnoses, including Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder and complex trauma, some of whom may self-harm. Patience, calmness, and resilience are essential, as your support will include helping them develop community relationships and manage incidents of self-harm.

You will support their transition to independence, including medication management, re-engagement with education, and accessing transport and appointments. Our young people enjoy activities like theme parks, horse riding, driving lessons, and camping, and you are encouraged to bring your hobbies to work and suggest new interests to keep experiences fun and engaging.

The home is a 5-bed property in Heaton, Bolton, close to local amenities. It is a well-maintained, homely environment with a large garden for outdoor activities and camping trips.

No previous care experience is necessary as full training and ongoing support will be provided. This role offers a rewarding start or development opportunity in working with young people or mental health.
