Job summary

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is hiring Healthcare Support Workers for acute and intensive-care mental health wards in Southsea and for older persons' mental health teams in Gosport and at St James. You will support service users to build independence, assist with daily living tasks, and work within a multidisciplinary team.

Training and career development opportunities are available, with flexible working options discussed at interview.

Qualifications

Level 2 qualification in health and social care, or willingness to learn.
Excellent communication skills for engaging clients with complex or challenging needs.

Responsibilities

Support service users to build independence and daily living skills, including personal hygiene, diet and fluids, and social or leisure activities.
Multidisciplinary team collaboration with nurses, social workers, occupational therapists and psychiatrists.
Support risk management and develop therapeutic relationships with service users.
Help individuals lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Work closely with patients, families and carers to provide a positive, supportive experience.
Assist and support qualified staff with assigned tasks as directed without supervision.
Carry out housekeeping duties where required.
Act as a role model and guide less experienced colleagues.
Use communication skills to engage, persuade or negotiate with clients with complex needs.
