Mental Health Support Worker / Behaviour Mentor – Romford

Pay:£80-£100 Per Day

We are looking for a dedicated Mental Health Support Worker / Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist school in Romford, where your empathy, resilience, and expertise will provide vital support and guidance.

In this role, you will create a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for students facing significant barriers to education. If you have experience in mental health, youth work, or behaviour support and are passionate about helping young people thrive, we want to hear from you.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to KS3 and KS4 students with SEMH needs
  • Building strong, trusting relationships to help students feel valued and supported
  • Working with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to implement behaviour plans
  • Using restorative and therapeutic approaches to manage challenging behaviours
  • Supporting students with complex needs like autism and communication difficulties
  • Acting as a mentor, guiding students through emotional and academic challenges

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in pastoral care, behaviour support, or mental health (preferred)
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and communicate effectively
  • Strong skills in building positive relationships with vulnerable children
  • A genuine passion for inclusion and promoting mental wellbeing
  • Someone who stays composed in a crisis and can “read the room”
  • An understanding that every behaviour has a story behind it
  • A commitment to making a real difference for young people needing another chance

What you’ll need to join us:

  • Two professional references from the last three years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
