Mental Health Support Teaching Assistant

SEN School · Gloucester · Full Time 8:30am-3:30pm · £85- £95 per day

Role

Based in a supportive SEN school environment in a well-respected SEN school in Gloucester, you will work closely and collaboratively with students, teachers, teaching assistants, and mental health professionals to provide tailored support that promotes emotional resilience, strength, psychological and emotional well-being and academic success. Your Mental Health Support Teaching Assistant role will majorly involve 1:1 and small groups, who have been diagnosed with mental health issues like Anxiety, Depression and OCD to develop coping mechanisms, building confidence generally and in the classroom, and thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Provide empathetic and regular emotional support to students experiencing a range of mental health difficulties like anxiety, depression, OCD
  • Help to deliver wellbeing and mental health interventions
  • Collaborate with teachers, mental health counselors, parents to create a learning plan
  • Measure and monitor student’s progress
  • Create a safe school atmosphere with an optimistic attitude
Experience / Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with children is vital
  • Previous experience working with children with mental health issues is beneficial
  • Safeguarding Training is required to the nature of the job in dealing with complex needs
  • A degree would be most desirable and Level 3 qualifications are required
