Job Description:

The Mental Health Support Assistant role is ideal for Psychology Graduates interested in Education, Mental Health, Wellbeing, or Social Care. It involves supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs in an Alternative Provision setting in Aylesbury, working with boys and girls aged 5-19, with a focus on restorative and therapeutic approaches.

Responsibilities include working with small class groups of 3-6 pupils, supporting their social and emotional development, and building relationships to keep them safe. The role is suitable for graduates or individuals with SEN experience, aiming to develop careers in counselling, youth work, social justice, or criminal justice systems.

Requirements include:

  • An undergraduate degree (preferable) or relevant SEN experience, especially for Criminology and Psychology Graduates
  • Understanding of how mental health and Autism affect different genders
  • Good education levels in English and Maths (5 grades and above)
  • Interest in outside activities like Sport, Cooking, Coding, Dance, Hairdressing, Photography
  • Knowledge or keen interest in various learning and behavioral needs, including SEMH
