Job Description:

We are seeking a passionate and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to support children with Autism and complex Learning Disabilities at a specialist school in Bristol. This long-term, full-time position is ideal for Psychology or Criminology graduates interested in gaining experience in a therapeutic, supportive environment.

The school caters to children aged 5 to 16 with Autism and other special needs, employing a therapeutic approach that involves engaging activities outside traditional lessons. Candidates with experience working with children or adults with Special Needs are encouraged to apply.

You will have the opportunity to work alongside therapists and psychologists, shadow sessions, and learn from experienced professionals—perfect for aspiring educational, occupational, or clinical psychologists, or therapists.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supporting children with Autism and complex needs in a classroom setting.
2. Implementing therapeutic activities and engaging children in their learning process.
3. Collaborating with the school’s therapy team to support individual needs.
4. Monitoring and documenting children's progress.
5. Creating a caring and supportive environment for vulnerable children.

Requirements:

1. Level 3 qualifications or higher; a Degree in Psychology, Criminology, or related field is highly desirable.
