Job summary

Academics is seeking a dedicated Mental Health Assistant in Wokingham, starting ASAP. The role focuses on supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs, and fostering a calm, inclusive learning environment within a Specialist School.

You will work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to provide consistent support and build trusting relationships, helping pupils manage emotional and behavioural challenges and thrive in their educational setting.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children, young people, mental health, SEN, or behavioural needs.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
• Provide small group support to pupils.
• Support pupils with emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Help create a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support pupils inside and outside of the classroom.
