We are currently seeking torecruit a Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner into the Wakefield EarlyIntervention in Psychosis Service (Insight Team). The team covers the Wakefieldlocality, working with people aged 14 to 65 and stretches across adult andchildrens services. The team forms part of the community service line andEnhanced Pathway within the Wakefield BDU. The post holder would be expected towork across the Wakefield area with a named base currently in the Drury LaneHealth & Wellbeing Centre.
You need to be an individualwho is self motivated, enthusiastic, and who has a desire to work to improvelife chances of people who may be experiencing their first episode inpsychosis. This can take a lot of patience, requiring keen skills in creative engagement.Part of the role will involve health promotion; improving the physical heath ofthis group of service users as well as promoting the role of the insight teamto capture appropriate referrals

You will need to demonstrate your continuing professional development since the point of qualification andhow this can transfer to the role. You need to be open to enhancing your current skills through in house training and the shadowing of team members. You must be willing to attend external training as required for the post.

Has continuing responsibility for the provision of skilled interventions to people with mental health problems in the community. Works within a multi-disciplinary team as a member of a
Enhanced CMHT.
Key Result Areas:
Management of own caseload in line with C.P.A. procedures and risk management protocols.
Provision of leadership to the Enhanced Team in respect of psycho-social interventions to people and their carers in line with national and local practice standards e.g. NICE
Professional:
1. Assesses needs and identifies problems relevant to the care of people referred.
Administrative:
1. Maintains accurate patient care records in accordance with professional codes of conduct and trust procedures and ensures records are made available when required by the appropriate agency.
2. Participates in the formulation of policies at unit level.
3. Maintains accurate mileage records.
4. Manages caseload with due economy of cost and time.
5. Ensures safe carriage, storage and administration of drugs prescribed (registered nurses only).
6. Responsible for the ordering of stock with due economy.
7. Produces monthly statistics in line with trust directives.
8. Keeps the Management Team and colleagues informed of developments relevant to the area of responsibility.
Education:
1. Supervises students and trainees on placement.
Personnel:
1. Promotes an understanding of mental health and well being.
