Are you a qualified mental health professional looking to make a difference in young people's lives? Do you want to work in a school environment where emotional wellbeing is a top priority?
We are working with multiple schools across Northampton that are seeking School-Based Mental Health Practitioners to join their teams from September 2025. These are full-time, long-term roles supporting students' mental health and emotional development within inclusive, nurturing school settings.
Deliver one-to-one and small group interventions for students experiencing emotional or mental health challenges such as anxiety, low mood, trauma, or self-esteem issues
Carry out assessments and develop tailored support plans in collaboration with school SENCOs, pastoral leads, and parents
Support a whole-school approach to mental health through awareness campaigns, staff workshops, and drop-in sessions
Work closely with internal staff and external agencies to ensure joined-up, child-centred care
Promote resilience, wellbeing, and positive coping strategies through structured therapeutic sessions
Maintain accurate records in line with safeguarding and confidentiality procedures
A qualified mental health professional - such as a counsellor, mental health nurse, youth worker, or social worker
Experience supporting children or adolescents in education, healthcare, or youth services
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with young people from diverse backgrounds
A calm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach
Up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding procedures and relevant mental health legislation
(Desirable) Additional training in areas such as CBT, emotional regulation, or trauma-informed practice
A variety of full-time, school-based roles across Northampton
