Job description

CATAT, who after our first year of being live (2023), was highly recommended for the Working Together for Better Mental Health at the staff excellence awards, is looking for professionals with a keen interest in working with CYP and their families. We aim to help them achieve better outcomes and keep them in the community.

The team's goal is to prevent CYP from inpatient admissions whenever possible and to support them and their families proactively in the community. The team acts as a gateway in and out of Tier 4 (T4) provision, working alongside core community teams and partner agencies to provide increased support, shared risk management, collaborative working, and continuity of care.

CATAT has two main pathways:

  1. Admission Avoidance - The least restrictive option, supporting CYP already open to a core team but needing more intensive intervention to prevent worsening or hospital admission.
  2. In-reach/Outreach - Supporting young people transitioning from inpatient settings (T4) back into the community.

Between 07/2022 and 08/2024, our team has successfully avoided 165 admissions. If you are a dynamic individual eager to make a difference in services supporting young people and families, we invite you to apply and join us!

Main Duties of the Job

What CATAT offers:

  • Consultation and advice
  • Enhanced assessments
  • Ensuring children & young people in Norfolk & Suffolk access care in the least restrictive environment
  • Case formulation and ongoing case management to develop the CYP care pathway
  • Face-to-face community visits
  • Participation in MDTs, LEAPs, CETRs, MALMs, and liaison with inpatient and acute wards
  • Therapeutic interventions tailored to CYP mental health needs, such as emotional regulation, DBT skills, AMBIT techniques, and risk management
  • Systemic working with CYP, families, carers, and wider networks
  • Training and education for other services
  • Promoting joined-up working and liaising with other teams across mental, physical health, and children’s services

(The above list is not exhaustive but highlights our core activities.)
