Mental Health Practitioner - Early Intervention Service (MHST) Location: Derbyshire

Contract Type: Full-time or Part-time

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm

Service Care Solutions is currently recruiting for a Mental Health Practitioner to join a Mental Health Support Team (MHST) working within an Early Intervention Service. This role is based in education settings, supporting children and young people (CYP) with mild to moderate mental health needs.

About the Service

The MHST is designed to:

  • Promote good mental health and wellbeing.
  • Support CYP in education settings.
  • Increase the mental health workforce and capacity to support pupils and students.
  • Work collaboratively with education staff to embed a Whole School Approach (WSA) to mental health and wellbeing.
Core Functions of MHSTs

Deliver evidence-based interventions for mild to moderate mental health issues.

Support the Senior Mental Health Lead in developing and implementing the WSA.

Provide timely advice to education staff and liaise with specialist services to ensure CYP receive appropriate support and remain in education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and deliver evidence-based interventions and psychoeducational tools in education settings.
  • Work in partnership with CYP, families, and education staff.
  • Empower CYP and families to make informed choices about interventions.
  • Accept referrals in line with local and national protocols.
  • Assess risk and follow clear risk management procedures.
  • Escalate concerns and safeguarding disclosures appropriately.
  • Manage a caseload and demonstrate effective clinical practice.
Requirements
  • Relevant qualification and experience in mental health (e.g., RMN, Social Worker, Therapist).
  • Experience working with children and young people in education or community settings.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and risk assessment.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi-agency teams.
