Job Description for Mental Health Nurse (RMN)

As a qualified Mental Health Nurse (RMN), you will provide specialist care for people with a diagnosis of severe and enduring mental illness, personality disorder, and/or mild learning disability.

The wards are busy, with plenty to keep you engaged and motivated, offering a good balance of routine and variety. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  1. Providing high-quality, effective, and compassionate nursing care to service users.
  2. Being responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
  3. Providing mentorship and support to team members.
  4. Observing, recording, and reporting all service user changes, and maintaining accurate records of care provided.
Skills and Knowledge Required
  • A relevant nursing qualification.
  • NMC registration.
  • Strong teamwork skills.
  • A high level of self-motivation and a flexible approach.
  • A positive attitude, being naturally caring and compassionate.

Work Location

You will be working at the Farndon Unit, a purpose-built low secure hospital offering personalized assessment and recovery-based treatment pathways, including a trauma-specific pathway, for women with complex care needs.

You will join a multidisciplinary team providing specialist care for individuals with severe and enduring mental illness, personality disorder, or mild learning disability.

The facility includes general low secure wards and a recovery ward area within the secure perimeter, supporting recovery and rehabilitation through seamless internal care pathways.
