Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Nurse to join our Mental Health team at HMP Doncaster, a category B Prison located in Doncaster, South Yorkshire.

In this role, you'll be working with a multi-disciplinary team that will support you and help you succeed.

Hours

Monday to Sunday - 08:00 - 18:30, across 3/4 days on a rolling 4-week rota. There will be an expectation to work alternate weekends.

Salary

This position is full-time, with an annual salary up to £40,211 per annum, depending on experience.

Candidates are required to have a legal right to work in the UK, and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team carrying out comprehensive assessments, initiating and reviewing care plans, and developing treatment options
  • Undertake medication rounds, and assess and treat patients who may have undergone traumatic experiences and may be distressed
  • Assess patients' health needs using an evidence-based framework and be able to risk assess with sound clinical knowledge
  • Work with individuals providing advice, support, and information, and manage a caseload of patients
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • Monitor therapeutic responses to medication and potential side effects, liaising with prescribers as required
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with partners and stakeholders
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence-based care
  • Share knowledge, skills, and expertise to ensure safe care, building strong multidisciplinary teams, and supporting each other
Qualifications required:
  • Qualified Mental Health Nurse - NMC registration
  • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • Experience working with patients face-to-face with complex mental health conditions
  • Experience of psychosocial interventions, group work, and awareness of substance misuse

Although not essential, ideal applicants would have experience in a hospital, community, or prison environment.
