  • From a social care background or personally familiar with special educational needs?
  • Looking for a role where your empathy and resilience truly matter?

If so, we’d love to hear from you.

Protocol Education is recruiting for a full-time Learning Mentor to join a pupil referral unit in Shropshire. You’ll be supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs—helping them to feel safe, supported, and ready to engage with learning.

This is a setting where relationships are everything. While classroom experience is welcome, it’s not essential. What matters most is a calm, confident approach and the ability to build trust.

The role:

  • Full-time (Monday to Friday, 8:30am–3:30pm)
  • Working with pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis
  • Providing emotional support and structure throughout the school day
  • Supporting behaviour regulation and promoting positive choices

You will need:

  • A strong, grounded presence and the ability to stay calm under pressure
  • A genuine interest in supporting children with SEMH needs
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude

This is a long-term role in a team that truly values consistency and care. Whether you come from youth work, social care, education, or a personal support background, your experience could be the difference-maker here.
