Job summary

Cygnet Group is recruiting a Mental Health Law Practitioner to support the MHA Administrator in ensuring the Mental Health Act 1983 is applied correctly at Grange and Lodge. The role requires 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based in Brighouse, with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits.

You will manage detention procedures, maintain records, liaise with solicitors, and help patients and relatives understand and exercise their rights, with training and ongoing support provided.

Qualifications

Experience in administration and report preparation.
Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

Ensure procedures under the Mental Health Act and related legislation are followed.
Ensure legal detention of patients and maintain required records.
Maintain secure storage of documentation and handle section papers during working hours.
Arrange correction of detention errors to meet legal requirements.
Inform patients and relatives of rights and assist with exercising them.
Maintain an up-to-date list of mental health solicitors and support hearings where possible.
