Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a motivated dietitian to join our inpatient mental health dietetics team in Derbyshire. This is a Band 6 role, but we also welcome newly qualified dietitians to apply for a Band 5 role, with structured support to develop to Band 6.

The post involves providing specialist dietetic services to mental health inpatient units, delivering training, supervising students, and contributing to service development. Support is provided by a friendly team committed to supervision and CPD.

Based at Kingsway Hospital, Derby, travel to Radbourne unit and Chesterfield sites (Derwent Unit and Walton Hospital) is required, with travel expenses reimbursed. Flexibility in location and working days may be needed.

Main duties

Deliver high-quality, evidence-based mental health nutrition and dietetic services across Derbyshire inpatient sites. Manage referrals related to nutrition support, weight management, diabetes, and eating disorders, with supervision from the Inpatient Lead Dietitian. Liaise with other services and provide nutritional training to healthcare professionals.

Essential - Attainment and qualifications
  • Four-year undergraduate or two-year postgraduate degree in Nutrition & Dietetics or equivalent
  • HCPC registration as a dietitian
  • Membership of the British Dietetic Association (BDA)
  • Membership of the BDA specialist Mental Health group
Essential - Knowledge, skills, and experience
  • Willingness and ability to travel across sites within working hours, with expenses reimbursed
  • Experience or training in mental health settings, with relevant courses
  • Postgraduate dietetic experience relevant to the role
