Job description

THE HOURS OF THE POST ARE FULL TIME; HOWEVER, PART TIME HOURS OR JOB SHARE WOULD BE CONSIDERED.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Healthcare Support Workers to become part of our evolving Older Adult Community Mental Health Team in Central Fife. The post holders would be based at Whyteman’s Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy.

Applications for these posts are invited from experienced HCSWs, who are able to demonstrate knowledge and skills gained from experience working with older adults in the Mental Health Service, or have transferable skills and experience. We are seeking confident Support Workers with a positive, pro-active approach who can collaboratively work within the wider team. You will be resilient, enthusiastic, and committed to working with older adults to provide person-centred care.

You will be self-motivated with a desire to be part of a progressive, innovative Older Adult CMHT and be able to cover a large geographical area, often carrying medical equipment.

You will receive a comprehensive induction, managerial/caseload supervision and supportive educational/personal development, which includes protected learning time. These posts will also provide opportunities to contribute and shape the development of the role within the evolving CMHT.

If successful in your application, you will be offered the opportunity to undertake an SVQ2 or SVQ3 (dependent on band) in Health and Social Care, approximately 9 months after taking up the post. It is expected that you complete this qualification, which will be fully funded by NHS Fife. Your Line Manager will provide you with more information once you are in post.

For informal enquiries please contact Lesley Craw, Nurse Team Lead, Whyteman’s Brae Hospital on 01592 643355 ext 28952 or e-mail lesley.craw@nhs.scot.

A requirement of this post is to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme prior to appointment.

NHS Fife is legally obliged to ensure all its employees are legally entitled to work in the United Kingdom. If you are not a United Kingdom (UK) or Irish National, you are required to confirm your right to work in your application.
