About The Role

Join the New England North West Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) as a Mental Health Professional, where you'll play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive assessment, treatment and care coordination for children, adolescents, and their families facing mental health challenges.

We are an outpatient service consisting of Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists/Clin Psych in Training, Occupational Therapists, a Mental Health Nurse, and medical officers specialising in psychiatry. As part of a skilled, multidisciplinary team, you'll receive robust support from your colleagues, and from the broader CAMHS network.

In this role, you'll benefit from ongoing clinical supervision, and mentorship provided by senior members of the CAMHS team and broader CAMHS network. We are committed to nurturing your professional growth with tailored training and educational opportunities.

This position will be site negotiable between Tamworth, Gunnedah, Narrabri or Moree.

About You

Your responsibilities will include conducting mental health assessments (often in partnership with another clinician), providing brief and longer-term interventions, and facilitating connections to appropriate support services for young people and their carers dealing with severe and complex mental health issues.

Clinical Psychologists in Training are encouraged to apply, and supervision will be supplied by the Health Service. For Clinical Psychologists in Training, please note that you are required to nominate your placement coordinator as a referee.

Requirements

  • Must hold a qualification in one of the following: Occupational Therapy, Clin Psychology/clin psych in training, Nursing, Social Work, or Counsellor (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science Mental health, Djirruwang Program) which provides eligibility or membership of the relevant professional association general registration through the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency. For a CNS2: relevant post-registration qualifications and at least 3 years experience working in the clinical area of a post-graduate qualification.
  • Eligibility to drive in NSW and interstate and the willingness to travel in the course of employment.
