As a Casual Mental Health Support Worker, you will be working with the people we support in our Mental Health registered services and/or Mental Health Supporting Living services to develop their independence and support them live the way that they choose.You must be willing to be prepared to work in either residential or supported living services as required, you might work a shift in a service and during that time be asked to go to someone’s home within the community for a few hours.

As a member of our support team, you will be assisting people we support with their day-to-day activities such as personal care, cooking, housework, going to the shops or attending any activities they may be interested in. You will work with these individuals to encourage independence, choice and involvement in their own lives, and to promote their active participation in their chosen community.

To apply you will:

  • Have at least 6 months’ experience as a Support Worker/ Care Assistant or the equivalent in a similar setting; orcurrently studying health sciences subjects at undergraduate/post graduate level
  • Be currently working in a Mental Health setting or have worked in one for over 3 months – desirable but not essential
  • Able to commit to regular work +20hr per week
  • Hold full valid British driving licence (manual gear) – desirable but not essential
  • Have strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, the people we support and a range of stakeholders
  • Be kind and caring, have a proactive attitude and willingness to be flexible and adaptable
  • Be able to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Be willing to learn and committed to delivering a high-quality service to the people we support
