Job description

Hours: Looking to recruit for part-time and full-time with flexible shift work available between 8am and 8pm.

Your Role

The Mental Health Advisor will provide on-going support and advice to customers that are experiencing poor mental health and/or employment difficulties relating to stress, anxiety or depression. You will provide personalised support and promote evidence-based coping strategies to enable customers to remain in work and contribute to their overall wellbeing.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Provide advice, information, and guidance to referred customers on the provision of mental health support through in-person appointments, zoom, email or telephone.
  2. Effectively manage and prioritise a caseload of customers with mental health issues.
  3. Provide advice on techniques and strategies to self-manage health during work.
  4. Contribute to mental health awareness-raising activities generally, promoting the maintenance of good mental health and wellbeing, including: confidence building, managing stress & resilience, sleep and routine, and assertiveness.
  5. Develop relationships and networks with key stakeholders including employers, job centre teams, GPs and other healthcare providers.
  6. Regularly review the mental health support being offered, identifying any gaps in support and making recommendations to the Health & Wellbeing Manager.

Your Skills & Experience

  1. Experience of working in health promotion or public health.
  2. Previous experience supporting individuals with physical and mental health difficulties in a participant facing environment.
  3. Ability to build rapport, engage and coach individuals to progress.
  4. Knowledge and experience of local specialist networks and provisions.
  5. Able to engage with peers/practitioners across local areas.
  6. Supported customers with health issues in a back to work, vocational rehabilitation or occupational health setting.
  7. Working towards full professional registration with Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC), British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), or British Association for Behavioural & Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) – desirable.
