An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Administrator to join our busy Mental Health Act (MHA) team to support the MHA administration.

The successful applicant will ensure that the administration of the MHA is delivered effectively and efficiently supporting our front line clinical services. The post holder will be responsible for working within agreed procedures, with minimal supervision.

We are looking for a motivated and resourceful individual who is proficient in Microsoft applications with strong IT skills. Good organizational and communication skills are needed, as well as the ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job
  1. To assist with our Trust procedures implementing the Mental Health Act in accordance with agreed procedures, with minimal supervision.
  2. To ensure that detained patients, and where appropriate their nearest relative, are advised of their statutory rights under the Mental Health Act.
  3. To liaise with external organisations and agencies (e.g. Care Quality Commission, Tribunal Service, Solicitors, Social Services, Police, Courts etc) in connection with the remit of the MHA Department.
  4. To make arrangements for patient appeals and Review of Detention for both Community Treatment Order patients and inpatients, ensuring all the legal documentation is available within the statutory time frames.
  5. Drafting correspondence, file notes and other material, such as office protocol instructions, as required by the MHA Co-ordinator.
  6. To assist with general administrative duties, this will include handling sensitive material.
  7. The access and use of a car is vital. This role involves visiting and working at various locations across the Trust. The post holder is required to hold a clean driving license.
  8. To adhere to the requirements of strict confidentiality in relation to the work of the Trust and people who use our services.

Experience
  • Administrative qualification that demonstrates competence in systems and processes.
