Job description

Mental Capacity Senior Role | National Recognition | Central Bristol | Real Career Progression

If you're a Mental Capacity specialist ready to step into a nationally recognised team with scale, structure, and serious ambition, this opportunity should grabyour attention.

A highly ranked specialist firm, recognised by Chambers/The Legal 500, is continuing to grow its Mental Capacity team in Bristol, looking to add a Managing Associate.

The team is one of the largest dedicated Mental Capacity practices in the UK, made up of over 50 professionals, including 12 solicitors, 3 Directors, 2 Managing Associates, 1 Partner, and a wider group of paralegals, case handlers, and support staff. They manage over 1,000 active deputyships and attorneyships, handling a complex and varied caseload spanning property and affairs, contested Court of Protection work, and increasingly high-value estates.

You'll be trusted to lead your own caseload, develop client relationships, support junior team members, and contribute meaningfully to strategic business development. This is not a volume-based team; it’s a focused, specialist practice that prides itself on making a tangible difference to some of the most vulnerable people in society.

You’ll need a solid track record in Mental Capacity law (5+ years PQE), particularly in property and affairs, and ideally experienced in supervision or mentoring.

The firm hasa progressive and collaborative culture, offering hybrid working, typically with two days in the office, andare open to flexible arrangements. Full-time or part-time applicants will be considered.

In return, the firm offers a highly competitive salary and bonuses, and a generous benefits package that includes 26 days’ holiday + BH (with the option to buy more), enhanced pension, income protection, health cash plan, and a strong focus on wellbeing and work-life balance.
