Job description

Men's Performance Team Coach (Men's 1st/2nd XI)

West Herts Hockey Club in Watford is seeking a dedicated coach for its men's teams. The club boasts excellent facilities shared with Watford Grammar School, with easy access to London and major motorways.

The Role
The coach will lead the outdoor training and development of the first and second teams, including Saturday coaching of the 1s side. The role may include assisting the 2s team when fixtures allow. The team aims to recover from relegation and build a strong squad for national league success in 2025/6, utilizing video analysis tools such as VEO.

Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of outdoor training for the 1st and 2nd teams, including Saturday sessions. The coach should be prepared to work with a smaller squad initially and recruit additional players as needed.

Candidate Profile
Ideal candidates are those seeking a long-term role, with a focus on developing a consistent playing style and integrating into the West Herts hockey community. The squad has significant national league experience and values a coach who can bring fresh ideas and motivation.

Qualifications and Experience
Applicants should have England Hockey Level 2 (or equivalent) and a proven coaching record. Experienced players transitioning into coaching are encouraged to apply, explaining how their experience compensates for any missing qualifications.

Additional Opportunities
Potential roles include director of junior coaching and coaching support for local schools, which could complement the main position.
