Job summary

Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge is seeking an experienced part-time Men’s 1st team Football Coach to join a dedicated sport department. The role is fixed-term, six hours per week, at £26.57 per hour.

You will run pre-season trials, coach the team, select squads and compete in AoC Sport leagues as well as a local college league. The successful candidate will foster technical and tactical growth, build resilience and promote a positive team culture on and off the pitch.

Qualifications

  • Hold a current FA coaching qualification.
  • Full driving licence held for at least two years with no more than three penalty points.
  • Availability to start on 24 August 2026 and finish by 30 April 2027, with pay for any extra sessions if extended.
  • Demonstrate commitment to player development and positive team culture.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver coaching sessions for the men’s first team.
  • Conduct pre-season trials and select match-day squads.
  • Travel with the team to weekly fixtures (includes minibus driving).
  • Build a supportive team environment that develops both sporting performance and personal attributes.
  • Collaborate with the wider coaching team to maintain high standards across the programme.

About the school

Hills Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge has a strong sporting tradition and runs highly successful teams across major sports. The Sport Department is well established and works in a supportive environment that values both academic and sporting excellence. It comprises three teaching staff delivering A level, four support staff and twelve part-time staff who contribute to the enrichment programme and college sport. The role

We are seeking an experienced part-time Men’s 1st team Football Coach to work alongside three other coaches. The position is fixed-term and part-time, requiring six hours per week at £26.57 per hour. The successful candidate will run pre-season trials, coach the team, select squads and compete in AoC Sport leagues and cups as well as a local college league. A key focus is the holistic development of players, fostering technical and tactical growth alongside a positive team culture built on resilience, teamwork and continuous improvement on and off the pitch.
