Job Title: Men’s 1st Team Coach

Club: Old Williamsonian Hockey Club

Location: Sir Joseph Williamsonians Mathematical School

League: South East Division 1 East

Start Date: August 2025 (Pre-season start) Contract Duration: April 2026

Compensation: Competitive pay, depending on experience, with the potential for an increase in future seasons based on performance

About the Club:

Old Williamsonian Hockey Club is one of Kent’s most historic and respected hockey clubs, based in Rochester with access to excellent facilities and a welcoming community. The club boasts 7 men’s teams, 3 ladies’ teams, and a thriving junior section of 40–60 young players, many of whom have represented at county and national level across age groups.

Our Men’s 1st XI compete in South East Division 1 East, and we are looking to strengthen our performance setup with a coach who brings structure, ambition, and a winning mentality to our squad. We also proudly maintain an inclusive and sociable club atmosphere, backed by a proactive committee and supportive membership.

The Role:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Men’s 1st Team Coach to lead the team through the 2025/26 season and beyond. You’ll take charge of all aspects of training and match preparation, using tools such as Veo match analysis to review performance and provide feedback to players. You’ll work collaboratively with team captains and the club committee to deliver a structured, disciplined, and competitive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan and lead weekly men's training sessions on Wednesdays, 7:00–9:00 PM.
  2. Attend all Saturday 1st XI league fixtures, delivering tactical leadership and match-day management.
  3. Instil a culture of professionalism, accountability, and discipline within the 1st team squad.
  4. Collaborate with 1st and 2nd team captains to support fair and effective squad selection.
  5. Utilise Veo footage to analyse matches and provide individual and team feedback.
  6. Report regularly to the Club Chairman and contribute to the club’s wider performance strategy.
What We’re Looking For:
  1. Proven coaching experience, ideally at senior club or university level (Level 2 coaching qualification preferred).
  2. Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  3. Ability to motivate players, build team cohesion, and foster a performance-driven environment.
  4. Commitment to the development of both the squad and individual players.
  5. A passion for hockey and a desire to contribute to the success of a community-led club.
