An established industry player is seeking a passionate Men's 1st XI Coach to lead a talented squad in a competitive league. This role offers the chance to develop young players while enhancing team performance. The ideal candidate will have a strong coaching background and a commitment to fostering a positive club spirit. As the club aims to push for higher league standings, this position provides a multi-year opportunity to make a significant impact. Join a dynamic team and contribute to the growth of performance hockey in a supportive environment.
South Berkshire Hockey Club is looking for a Men’s First Team Coach for the 25/26 season, competing in South Central Prem 1.
Our men’s section is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated performance coach to lead first team training and manage the team on match days. You would be working closely with the men’s club captain, first team captain and second team leadership to help improve our men’s performance squads and assist with the development of young players. The successful candidate would be expected to have significant coaching and/or playing experience at a high level.
Our men’s first team have consistently progressed, bettering the previous season’s performance every year since the club’s formation in 2016. They currently play in the South Central Men's Premier Division 1, where they are on track for a mid-table finish in a very competitive league. We have a young, committed squad of players largely in their 20s and early 30s looking to continue improving year on year.
As a club we are expanding each season and aspire to continue pushing our performance teams up the leagues. Alongside this, we are the current England Hockey club of the year, as well as working towards Talent Centre accreditation. While the on-pitch success of our men’s first team will always be an extremely high priority, we are also extremely proud of our club spirit and we expect our coaches to be a part of this.
The aim for the coming years is to balance performance with continuing to improve the pathway for talented juniors, making the first team increasingly reachable for young players coming up through the club. We hope in the meantime to continue to develop in Prem 1, making a push for the top reaches of the league and establishing our club as an attractive destination for performance players in a competitive region. The ideal candidate would see this as a multi-year opportunity to not just work with a talented squad, but also contribute to the growth of the club.
For this position we would be asking for commitment to the below responsibilities:
