Job summary

Marcher Stone is seeking a reliable, practical person to join as a Trainee Memorial Mason/Workshop Assistant on a part-time basis (2–3 days per week). The role blends workshop manufacturing with outdoor installation, and training will cover traditional skills plus modern manufacturing techniques such as sandblasting and CNC operation.

No prior memorial masonry experience is required; the right attitude and willingness to learn are prized. A full UK driving licence is expected.

Qualifications

• Must be practical with hands-on work and able to learn specialist skills.
• Physically fit and able to undertake heavy work outdoors.
• Willing to learn and work independently after training.

Responsibilities

• Removing and preparing existing memorial stones
• Assisting with manufacture and preparation of new memorials
• Sandblasting and finishing stone
• Learning to operate CNC machinery
• Preparing memorials for installation
• Travelling to cemeteries and customer sites
• Fitting, fixing and erecting memorial stones
• Loading, unloading and safely handling heavy materials
• Maintaining workmanship and attention to detail
• General workshop and site duties
