CK Group is partnering with Nxera Pharma to recruit a Membrane Protein Biochemist for their Protein Sciences division.

This role is ideal for a scientist passionate about GPCRs and membrane protein biochemistry. It offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge drug discovery in a collaborative and innovative environment.

About the role:

You will focus on expressing and purifying challenging membrane proteins for biochemical, biophysical, and structural studies to support Nxera’s drug design process.

Responsibilities include:
  • Expressing and purifying membrane proteins for various applications
  • Designing and engineering expression constructs for mammalian and insect cells
  • Optimizing protein expression and purification workflows
  • Characterizing purified proteins using techniques like fSEC, DLS, SEC-MALS, DSF, FP
  • Reconstituting proteins in membrane mimetics
  • Assembling and purifying protein complexes
  • Staying updated with scientific literature and developing new methodologies
  • Presenting results effectively to teams
  • Collaborating with scientists to progress membrane protein targets
  • Maintaining detailed laboratory records
Skills and Experience:
  • PhD in biochemistry, biophysics, or related field
  • Skills in designing membrane protein constructs
  • Experience in expressing proteins in mammalian and insect cells
  • Expertise in purification protocols
  • Understanding of structural and biophysical studies
  • Proficiency in biochemical and biophysical techniques
  • Ability to use in silico methods like AlphaFold
  • Experience with molecular graphics software (e.g., Pymol, Chimera)
  • Experience in assay development for drug discovery
  • Experience with membrane protein reconstitution
