Job description

Membership and marketing Manager

People person? Pub afficionado? Beer connoisseur?

If you are a highly organised self-starter, who enjoys meeting people from all areas of a business and wants to work at the heart of the dynamic and fast-moving hospitality industry then we have just the role for you…

We are looking for a Membership & Marketing Manager to join our team on a full time, permanent basis and lead membership engagement and coordinate our events programme.

We are the leading trade association representing British beer and pubs. Our members brew 90% of the beer brewed in Britain today and own around 25,000 of the country’s pubs.

We promote beer as the nation’s favourite drink and highlight the vital role pubs play in communities. As a trade association, we campaign for policies that enable both brewers and pubs to thrive – from cutting beer tax and business rates to promoting careers in pubs and brewing.

In this role, you’ll have responsibility for engaging, retaining and recruiting members to the BBPA family. You’ll also create, market and coordinate a programme of events to help connect current members and attract new ones.

The role will involve a lot of reaching out to brewers and pub operators, explaining to them the benefits of joining our trade association, as well as keeping in regular touch with existing members. Time in the office will be flexible and the role will also regularly take you on the road to visit members and oversee events.

This is a new role in our organisation and will suit someone willing to make the role their own, picking up the phone and getting face-to-face with current and prospective members to ensure they are engaged with our trade association.

The role will report directly to the Chief Executive, but will also work closely with all teams within the trade association, including the Communications and Policy teams. Knowledge of the pub and beer sector is a nice to have but not essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities include:

Develop a Membership retention and recruitment plan with clear targets in terms of numbers and revenue, and manage it through to successful delivery Build and oversee an annual programme of BBPA events that engage members and help attract new ones Manage regular member feedback and surveys to help the BBPA improve its membership offer Marketing the benefits of BBPA Membership and support our members’ priorities Manage our Member database and lead on Membership Communications, developing communication channels within the BBPA team Maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders and organisations relevant to our members Write the content for, and keep all membership brochures and collateral relevant, on brand and up to date. You should apply if:

You are a confident communicator with experience of stakeholder management and member relations You have strong interpersonal skills and enjoy building relationships with various stakeholders both external and internal You are self-motivated, driven and happy to work independently You are driven by KPIs and targets You have experience in and enjoy organizing, marketing and delivering events Benefits and salary

£40-45k salary – depending on experience

Flexible working and travel (mixture of work from home and office, along with visiting members and prospective members across the UK)

Employer pension contribution scheme well above minimum rate

Other benefits including subsidised gym membership, free beer and more. Diversity and inclusion is a priority for us – if we are to showcase the diversity and inclusivity of our sector, our team has to represent it too.
