Join to apply for the Member of Technical Staff, AI Data role at Microsoft Innovation Center.

We are on a mission to create the largest and most advanced multimodal dataset in the world, spanning all modalities from across the web and beyond. This dataset will power the training of the world’s most capable AI frontier models, pushing the boundaries of scale, performance, and product deployment.

About the team: The AI Data team at Microsoft AI handles data preparation for model pre-training, including data collection, extraction, transformation, and impact analysis through training and evaluation. We collaborate closely with teams transforming pre-trained models into consumer products like Copilot.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • Are passionate about data's role in large-scale AI training
  • Thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments
  • Have high craftsmanship and attention to detail
  • Are proactive and enthusiastic about exploring new technologies
  • Can manage multiple responsibilities and adapt to shifting priorities

Responsibilities include:

  • Designing and developing data pipelines for multi-modal data (text, audio, images, video)
  • Building infrastructure to store and process petabytes of data
  • Partnering with pretraining and post-training teams to refine data recipes through experimentation
  • Collaborating across teams to identify gaps in models

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Math, Software Engineering, or related field, with experience in data science, analytics, or engineering
  • Or equivalent experience
  • Expertise in large-scale data engineering, ideally applied to AI
  • Proficiency in Spark, Kubernetes, or similar technologies
