Job description

Member Development Officer Education Liaison Lead

Location: Barnet

Salary: £27,000 Pro Rata

Hours: 21 hours per week (plus statutory breaks)

Vacancy Type: 12-month fixed term contract, with potential extension subject to funding

The Role

The organisation is looking for a Member Development Officer to focus on the engagement and opportunities between Barnet’s educational institutions and their members to benefit the Children and Young People of Barnet.

The role will look to build upon the current success of the position where the organisation has grown to having 61 school partners having delivered or currently delivering 39 projects with organisation members. This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of a strand of work where you will have the autonomy and support to build the role in a way that best meets the needs of children and young people across Barnet.

The role is offered at 3 days per week and the organisation offer the flexibility within the role to suit the right candidate’s other responsibilities. A hybrid approach with some homeworking may be possible to the right candidate but getting out and about within LB of Barnet will be an expected part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Nurture strong relationships with current organisation school partners.
  • Grow the organisation schools’ membership.
  • Grow & develop wider partners, including FE Colleges, Sixth Form Colleges, Middlesex University etc.
  • Ambassadorial role for the organisation and its VCFSE members to all educational institutions.
  • Understand the barriers to entry for members into educational institutions.
  • Unlock access into schools & educational institutions for members with funds/offer.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the needs of schools & educational institutions and how the organisations members can fulfil these needs.
  • Development a ‘Local Marketplace’ to advertise member services to schools & educational institutions.
  • Develop Partnerships on behalf of their members with schools & educational institutions – resulting in joint bids.
  • Promote Charity Schools Funding to support cross-sector projects.
  • Work with Resilient Schools to build relationships.
  • Work in partnership with school networks, such as BELS (Barnet Education and Learning Service), Team Around the School, Barnet Health in Schools Partnership.
  • Attend school network events and Input news into the “schools circular”.
  • Support the relationship between the Supplementary Schools network and integration into schools & educational institutions spaces.
  • Use the other tools and resources amongst the organisation staff team and offer to support the development of the engagement between Members and schools & educational institutions.
  • Responsible for logging activities, producing reports for the team/trustee and updating the team.
  • Identify opportunities for organisation Funding partnerships, liaising with the Fundraising Team.
  • Other development opportunities as identified between the role and the Member Development Team.

Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience in developing effective relationships/partnership working
  • A good understanding of the education sector in London
  • Experience representing an organisation in an outward-facing role
  • Experience in successfully working in an education or training context
  • Experience in the promotion of education/training
  • Experience in working with schools & educational institutions

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of schools & educational institutions in Barnet
  • Experience in delivering engaging presentations
  • Experience in developing promotional / information materials
  • Experience working with young people
