Job description

We are recruiting Melt Operators to work Weekends on behalf of Cosma Casting, part of Magna International, a premier global automotive supplier on a temporary ongoing basis. Based in the Stafford Park area of Telford, working hours will be Saturday and Sunday 6am - 6pm. Candidates that are successful for the weekend shifts will be required to train on Double Days for a minimum of 6 weeks.


The role entails:

  1. A pre-start check is made before commencing Charging.
  2. Ensure the furnace is correctly charged as per SWI.
  3. Maintain all melt areas by ensuring that they are cleaned and drossed off as per SWI’s.
  4. Provide a coin sample for Cast Chemistry Analysis by the met lab as per SWI and ensure that any alloy corrections required are made and logged on the Weekly Melt Sheet.
  5. Ensure K Mould samples are taken.
  6. Ensure all areas are cleaned and maintained; any issues or stoppages are reported to Team Leader, Supervisor, or Maintenance. All issues, stoppages, and concerns should be logged accordingly as per company policies and procedures.
  7. Provide break cover as and when required for the Department.
  8. Ensure that at the end of each shift the melt area is left in a tidy and safe condition ready for the following shift and all issues/concerns from the preceding shift are communicated/escalated to the next shift.
  9. Promote the company’s HSE policies across the department and plant and adhere to all Health and Safety environmental requirements.

Do you have:

  2. Understanding of the HDPC Process.
  3. Experience in a Production environment.
