Job summary

STRABAG is seeking a MEICA Manager to design, manage, coordinate and deliver MEICA systems across major UK infrastructure projects. You will oversee installation, testing and commissioning of complex assets, while coordinating subcontractors and ensuring safety, quality and budget adherence.

You will lead system integration of pumping systems, MCCs, PLC/SCADA networks and telemetry, with strong emphasis on CDM compliance and site safety across all active sites.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Control or Automation engineering.
  • Experience with high/low voltage distribution and large pumping systems.
  • Knowledge of automation architecture and NEC3/NEC4 highlights (desirable).
  • MEICA management on major UK infrastructure projects (desirable).

  • Project Delivery: Oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of MEICA assets across tunnel interfaces, shaft structures and surface valve houses.
  • Subcontractor Management: Lead procurement and management of specialist MEICA subcontractors, ensuring on-time and within-budget delivery.
  • System Integration: Manage integration of pumping systems, MCCs, PLC/SCADA and telemetry interfaces.
  • Health and Safety Leadership: Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and safety standards across sites.

The purpose of the role is to design, manage, coordinate, and deliver mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation systems throughout a project's lifecycle, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, budget, and programme requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Coordination: Collaborate with design teams to review and finalise technical specifications.
  • Project Delivery: Oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of complex MEICA assets across tunnel/siphon interfaces, shaft structures and surface valve houses.
  • Subcontractor Management: Lead procurement and management of specialist MEICA subcontractors, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • System Integration: Manage the integration of heavy mechanical pumping systems, MCC's, PLC/SCADA networks and telemetry interfaces.
  • Health and Safety Leadership: Ensure complete compliance with all CDM regulations, company health and safety standards and environmental requirements across all active sites.
Technical Knowledge
  • Pumps, motors, valves, pipework, MCCs (Motor Control Centres), VSDs (Variable Speed Drives).
  • PLC and SCADA systems.
  • Instrumentation and control systems.
  • UK electrical and safety regulations.
Qualifications
  • Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, Control, Automation, or related Engineering discipline.
  • Previous water industry experience (desirable).
  • Proven track record as a MEICA Manager on major UK infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent knowledge of high voltage/low voltage distribution, large scale pumping systems and automation architecture.
  • Familiarity with manging packages under NEC3 or NEC4 contract conditions (desirable).
