A prominent medical practice in North East England seeks a medicines management support administrator to efficiently manage prescription requests and ensure compliance with medical protocols. The role involves interacting with patients and healthcare professionals and requires strong customer service skills and relevant educational qualifications.

To issue practice prescriptions safely and efficiently in accordance with practice prescribing protocols.
To generate repeat prescription requests received through different modes, including written requests from patients, letters, and online, within 48 hours of request.
To generate patient requests for new prescription items not on their repeats list by tasking the appropriate clinician.
To check if medication reviews, blood tests, or blood pressure checks are needed before issuing prescriptions and take appropriate action.
To ensure correct protocols are followed regarding the ordering and tracking of controlled drug requests.
To monitor high-risk drug prescriptions and paperwork to ensure compliance with protocols.
To deal with general enquiries from patients regarding their medication.
To identify potential over-ordering or over-use of medication and flag up with a clinician.
To check and respond regularly to tasks, emails, and notifications.
To be the frontline in dealing with requests for medication from patients, patient carers, pharmacies, district nurses, practice GPs, community staff, and secondary care colleagues.

SAVILLE MEDICAL GROUP is a large and friendly practice in the centre of Newcastle with a branch surgery at Newbiggin Hall.
We care for approximately 42,500 patients, with a high proportion of students in the City Centre and a more typical population in the branch surgery. The workforce consists of 7 GP Partners, 24 Salaried GPs, and an extensive nursing team. In addition, we have a medicines management team including 3 Clinical Pharmacists and over 40 skilled staff members.
We also offer an expanding wellbeing team of 11 staff members with experience in mental health, dementia, children's charities, homelessness, substance misuse, domestic abuse, and support for patients who struggle to engage with services.
Our Primary Care Network is led by one of our GP Partners and Practice Manager, enabling us to collaborate with key partners including the CCG, Newcastle Hospital Trust, LMC, and our Federation. This helps the practice to remain highly proactive in integrating the latest healthcare policies and digital systems, making every day challenging and rewarding.
