Qualifications

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pharmacy Team at Kingsway, visiting our new mental health inpatient wards which will open shortly onsite, along with established wards on and off site at the Radbourne unit.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Medicines Management Technician to participate in the pharmacy department’s safe, effective, and responsive pharmaceutical supply services to Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job
  • Participate in supporting a high-quality medicine management service that is accurate, effective, efficient, and safe to all wards.
  • Ensure all new inpatients are reconciled in line with national and local policies and medicines are ordered in a timely manner to patients within the Trust.
  • Work closely with the Dispensary team to support medication supplies to wards.
  • Provide medicines information and support to patients and carers to optimise treatment outcomes.
  • Ensure all pharmacy audits are completed as per schedule and governance standards are always adhered to, including following up on all action plans.
  • Complete regular dispensing/accuracy checking sessions within the dispensary.
  • Independently travel between sites; travel costs will be reimbursed.
Additional main responsibilities
  • Medicine reconciliation and PODs checking
  • Completion of Discharge Medicines Service (DMS) dashboard
  • Patient counselling
  • Inpatient and stock top-up
  • Accuracy checking of medicines (training provided if not qualified)

The department promotes continuing education and development; applicants are encouraged to enhance their knowledge and skills.

Qualifications

You will have a BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Science alongside NVQ Level 3 Pharmaceutical Skills qualification or equivalent.
