We currently have multiple Locum Consultant Medicine positions available in General, Acute or Geriatric Medicine at various hospitals in and around London. Rates we can offer range from £72.28 (Pan London social rate) to £105 PAYE per hour, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00, and potential on-call duties.
Qualifications & Training
MRCP / FRCP / MBBS (or equivalent)
Fully registered with the GMC
Preferably a holder of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Acute, General or Geriatric Medicine
Experience
Experience leading Acute, General or Geriatric admitting medical teams
Experience working with allied health professions
Able to lead and make consultant-level decisions in Orthogeriatrics, Peri-operative Medicine, or Ambulatory Medicine
Clinical Knowledge and Skills
Ability to take full and independent responsibility for patient care
Ability to practice independently in Acute, General, or Geriatric Medicine
Ability to offer expert clinical opinions on related medical problems
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Excellent clinical skills
Geriatric Medicine Key Responsibilities:
Ward-based care, including daily reviews and consultant ward rounds
Assessment and management of frailty in elderly patients, liaising with other specialties
Participation in inpatient and outpatient clinics, including rapid access clinics
Liaison with other hospital teams regarding older adult care, especially in frailty and Orthogeriatrics
Sharing on-call duties, including stroke cover, weekend, or overnight on-call for Older Person's medical needs (availability varies by position)
Acute Medicine Key Locums:
Consultant review of inpatients on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU), including ward rounds and management oversight
Leading assessment and management in Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) or Ambulatory Care units
Managing the acute medical take, including assessment of new emergency admissions
On-call responsibilities, which may include night, weekend, or on-site duties, depending on the hospital setup
Attending ward rounds, reviewing patients, and managing their care
Performing procedures related to General Medicine
Responding to and managing acute medical emergencies
Availability for out-of-hours care, either remotely or on-site, depending on the position
