An established healthcare provider is seeking a dedicated Medical Summariser and Registration Clerk to join their friendly, multidisciplinary team. This role involves managing patient registrations and ensuring accurate data entry into electronic healthcare records using the EMIS clinical system. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of clinical coding, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. To be responsible for the read coding of relevant information into patients' electronic healthcare records on the EMIS clinical system, in line with the organisations coding policy. In addition, the post holder will be responsible for the full patient registration pathway from initial registration to processing deductions ensuring accuracy and adherence to relevant procedures. The role will also involve providing administrative support to the multi-disciplinary team as required, in line with the needs of the organisation.
Reviewing records and accurately producing a summary of the patients medical history
Accurately read coding data on EMIS
Reviewing progress of summarising, ensuring practice targets are achieved
Reviewing all clinical letters, ensuring they are processed appropriately in line with extant protocols
Managing patient registrations and deductions on EMIS, ensuring all data is entered and updated accurately in accordance with organisational procedures

Based in a spacious, modern, purpose-built premises Suttons Wharf Health Centre in Tower Hamlets, we serve a population of approximately 19,000 patients. Our team includes 6 Partners, 6 Salaried GPs, a Pharmacist, 2 Nurses, 2 HCAs, and a robust management and administrative team.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Medical summariser and Registration Clerk. There may, on occasion, be a requirement to carry out other tasks, depending on workload and staffing levels:
Primary Responsibilities
a. Managing the full patient medical records pathway from registration through to deduction on the EMIS clinical system, ensuring accuracy and adherence to practice protocolsb. Reviewing records and accurately producing a summary of the patients medical historyc. Accurately read coding data on EMISd. Reviewing progress of summarising to ensure practice targets are achievede. Reviewing all clinical letters and ensuring they are processed appropriately in line with extant protocolsf. Filing and storing records as requiredg. Photocopying documentation as neededh. Actioning all incoming correspondence, emails, and mail in a timely manneri. Scanning patient-related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients healthcare recordsj. Inputting data into patients healthcare records as necessaryk. Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls, or dealing with callers requests appropriatelyl. Conducting system searches as requestedm. Maintaining a clean, tidy, and effective working area at all timesn. Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as required
Secondary Responsibilities
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Medical Registration Clerk may be requested to:
a. Review and update the practice summarising policy as required (in conjunction with the Management Partner)b. Participate in audit work as directed by the audit leadc.
