Job description

We are seeking to recruit a reliable and self-motivated individual to join the secretarial team in Women's Services, based at Cross City at St James's University Hospital and Leeds General Infirmary.

The successful candidate will be able to work well in an environment with an emotional nature of work, being sensitive to colleagues, patients, and their families. Working both individually and as part of a team, this role requires problem-solving skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and covering duties such as typing and making appointments.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, proficiency in IT systems like Microsoft Excel, and strong organizational and prioritization abilities for multiple tasks.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide comprehensive medical secretarial support to the Consultant and medical team, supporting administrative processes to maintain practice standards. They must communicate sensitively with a wide range of people, including patients, medical staff, and colleagues. Flexibility to cover for colleagues and work hours as needed is required.

Responsibilities include maintaining clinical correspondence and administrative tasks aligned with a Consultant's practice, ensuring compliance with internal and national standards. Deputizing and supervisory responsibilities may be required during absences, along with ensuring adherence to legislative requirements concerning Health & Safety, Data Protection, and confidentiality.

Job Purpose

The post holder will provide comprehensive medical secretarial services to the Consultant and medical team, supporting administrative protocols and procedures to meet service needs. Effective communication with patients, staff, and colleagues is essential. Flexibility to cover colleagues during absences and work hours as necessary is required.

The post holder will ensure clinical correspondence and administrative tasks are maintained to meet standards and targets. Deputizing and supervisory roles may be required, along with compliance with legislative requirements related to Health & Safety, Data Protection, and confidentiality. Experience

  • Understanding of office procedures/systems
