The Division of Medicine would like to invite applicants for a Medical Secretary role working to support the Rheumatology Clinical Administration team. This is an excellent opportunity to join the Admin Team here at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals to cover a period of maternity leave for 12 x months.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide an effective and efficient support service to clinical teams ensuring robust systems and processes are in place for overall administrative oversight and coordination of the patient through the relevant pathway.

  • Maintain a high standard of administrative support to the Rheumatology medical team ensuring that robust systems are in place for the efficient end to end patient pathway.
  • Ensure that digital transcriptions are managed timely in accordance with Trust expectation.
  • Provide secretarial support to the Rheumatology consultants, clinical teams and specialist nurses alongside the clinical typist/administrator.

Person Specification

Qualification and Training

  • Minimum of 3 GCSEs including English and Maths at Grade C or above or suitable equivalent qualification.
  • Business Administration Level II Apprenticeship.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience working in a clerical/administrative role.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of Microsoft packages including Word.

Personal Attributes & Skills

  • Ability to assimilate new practices and knowledge.
  • Ability to deal calmly and diplomatically with a range of personalities and situations.
  • Flexible and adaptable, able to take direction and instruction from others.
  • Awareness of Trust Policies and Procedures.
