Job overview

Following internal promotion, the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team now has a vacancy for a full time Medical Secretary, based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. This person will provide a comprehensive and quality medical secretarial service to multiple consultants and their teams. This is a permanent position within the department.

You will provide administrative support as well as be involved in the day to day work for the consultants. You should be enthusiastic, motivated and have good organisational and communication skills. Excellent computer and audio-typing skills are also required.

Previous secretarial experience and medical terminology/knowledge is desirable.

Main duties of the job

To provide a comprehensive Medical Secretarial and Administration Service to the Department in strict accordance with Data Protection Act and Trust Confidentiality Guidelines, ensuring all work is processed in a timely, efficient way.

Provide a full and comprehensive Medical Secretarial Service, including timely audio typing of clinic letters, discharge summaries, admin letters, documents/presentations, taking and typing of minutes, agendas, and compilation of letters as required by the Consultant(s) and respective Team(s).

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
