Aneurin Bevan University Health Board supports flexible working.

There is a temporary top-up for Bands 2 and 3 to reflect the incorporation of the living wage of £12.60 per hour (£24,638 per annum). This top-up will remain until the 2025/26 pay uplift is confirmed.

Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Microbiology department for a fixed-term (1 year), part-time Medical Secretary (22.5 hours) based at the Royal Gwent Hospital. We seek a team player who enjoys varied administrative duties, has attention to detail, and can work under pressure to meet deadlines.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally encouraged to apply.

Main duties of the job
  • Providing high-quality administrative and secretarial support to the clinical and laboratory teams within Microbiology.
  • Supporting the smooth daily operation of the department.
  • Liasing with service users and staff to provide information and signpost to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinating Health Protection activities for the department.

This is a fixed-term/secondment position for 12 months. Applicants interested in secondment should obtain permission from their current line manager before applying.
