Overview

A permanent, Band 4 Medical Secretary position based on Dova Ward, Danegarth Inpatients, Barrow in Furness. The post holder will provide an efficient, high quality secretarial service to support Consultants and Medical Staff in maintaining a safe, efficient and effective clinical service. The post holder will manage the office administration for the Consultant and other medical staff within the inpatient setting, organise their own time and prioritise workload, and cover for absent colleagues as required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a confidential and efficient secretarial service to medical staff, including medical audio-typing and live typing for meetings as required (e.g., Best Interest Meetings, Professionals Meetings).
  • Utilise word-processing, email, computerised diary systems and electronic clinical records systems.
  • Organise own time, prioritise workload, and ensure urgent matters are dealt with promptly; ensure accurate and complete record keeping.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and external agencies as required.
  • Provide cover for absent colleagues during short periods such as annual leave or short-term sickness.
  • Maintain a high standard of general education, good communication skills and excellent organisational ability; fast keyboard skills required.
