A leading Integrated Care System is looking for a Medical Secretary to join their busy secretarial team. This part-time role involves managing e-Referral systems, typing, and maintaining effective communication with healthcare professionals and patients. The candidate should bring experience from a NHS setting, excellent interpersonal skills, and a focus on patient service.
We currently have a vacancy for 20 hours per week (negotiable) to join our secretarial team. These hours are to be worked mainly in the afternoons due to desk constraints.
The team are busy, but very highly thought of by the rest of the organisation.
The position would suit a Medical Secretary who has experience working in a GP Practice.
The secretarial team lead the e-RS (Choose and Book) referrals work, manage the incoming paper and digital correspondence from hospitals and specialists, and write outgoing letters and referrals for our GPs and clinicians.
Audio- and copy- typing, NHS email and SystmOne clinical system are used daily.
There is frequent telephone contact with patients and specialist hospital departments to answer queries, and update referral status.
As well as medical secretary work, the role involves managing post, filing notes, photocopying and other related tasks.

Key responsibilities include:
lead the e-RS (Choose and Book) referrals.
Manage the incoming paper and digital correspondence from hospitals and specialists.
Audio- and copy- typing, NHS email and SystmOne clinical system to write outgoing letters and referrals for our GPs and clinicians.
Telephone contact with patients and specialist hospital departments to answer queries, and update referral status.
Managing post incoming and outgoing paper post.
Supporting queries from the Practice team, working closely with GPs.
Filing and retrieving medical notes.
Photocopying.
