We are looking for a medical secretary/administrator to joinour busy but friendly team. Ideally the successful candidate must haveexperience of general practice and/or of working in a busy administrativeenvironment.
We require someone who possess excellent interpersonalskills, confidence, self-motivation and conscientiousness yet is able to workunder pressure.
Telephone Duties
1. Making appointments and navigating patients to the mostappropriate providers
2. Conveying messages both internal and external
3. Assisting with patient/visitor enquiries
4. Contacting other providers
Secretarial Duties
5. Provide secretarial services (via the choose and booksystem) for the clinical team to facilitate NHS and private referrals.
6. Provide information to enable the clinicians to makeinformed decisions regarding appropriate care for patients.
7. Data entry of incoming correspondence onto patientrecords.
8. Scanning of external correspondence to the clinicalsystem.
9. Ensure outstanding queries are explained and handed overto next shift, as necessary
10. Use of internal and external email connections toprovide communication with other services.
11. Regularly update own knowledge of local TrustConsultants to ensure patients are directed appropriately.
Administration Duties
12. To take a lead administrative role in GSF monitoring
13. Monitoring and processing of safeguarding documentation.
14. Summarising of patient notes onto the EMIS system.
15. To act as a backup to the reception team during busyperiods.
General
16. Observe health and safety and security guidelines
17. Maintaining mandatory training/attending necessarytraining sessions
18. Maintain confidentiality of all data and information
19. Maintain professionalism of both self and practice atall times
20. Any other reasonable duties as necessary

Person Specification Medical Secretary/Administrator
Qualifications:
Essential: Good standard of general education GCSE Mathematics C or above GCSE English C or above
Desirable: AMSPAR certificate NVQII in Customer Care CLAIT/other IT Qualification
Experience:
Essential - Experience of working with the general public
Experience in a secretarial role
Experience of working within General Practice
