About us
Medici Medical Practice provides a range of primary medical services to approximately 18,000 patients in central Luton. It is a training practice which provides support and mentorship to doctors training to be GPs.
Job responsibilities
Secretarial Duties:
- Audio and copy typing of medical letters, referral forms, and other correspondence.
- Process referrals via e-RS (electronic Referral System) or other referral platforms.
- Maintain accurate records of correspondence, ensuring timely dispatch and follow-up.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail related to clinical matters.
Administrative Support:
- Maintain patient records and ensure proper filing of clinical documents.
- Liaise with hospitals, consultants, and community services regarding patient appointments and results.
- Manage and prioritise incoming tasks and correspondence from clinicians.
- Track and chase up outstanding referrals, test results, and letters.
- Other administrative tasks as they arise.
- Respond to patient queries regarding referrals and medical correspondence in a professional manner.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with data protection regulations.
Team and Practice Support:
- Work closely with the reception and admin team to ensure seamless communication.
- Attend team meetings and training as required.
- Assist with general administrative duties to support the smooth operation of the practice.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills can work well within a team
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure
- Experience in a GP surgery or primary care setting
- Knowledge of SystmOne clinical system
- Understanding of NHS referral pathways
- Medical Terminology qualification or training
